David Fleming, 76, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 28, 1945, he was the son of the late John and Elizabeth (Roche) Fleming. He was married to the love of his life Mary Ann (Hoyt) Fleming.
Born and raised in Lawrence, David graduated from Tilton Academy and Merrimack College. He went on to earn a Master's Degree in History from Salem State. He worked for 35 years as a teacher in the Lawrence Public School system. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law.
One of David's favorite things to do was spend time with his family. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play throughout their time in youth and college sports. A lover of all New England sports teams, he was happy to watch them win multiple championships. In addition to spending time with his family he enjoyed playing his guitar and banjo, spending time in his workshop, taking care of his yard and refurbishing furniture. David would go out of his way to help anyone in need of assistance, whether it was fixing a car, building something or providing advice.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his daughters, Marybeth Fleming and her spouse Thomas Mullings of Plaistow, NH and Katherine Proietti and her husband Mark of Methuen, MA; his five grandchildren, Kelly, Kayla, Andrew, Katy and Adam; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Fleming; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, John and Paul Fleming and his sister Elizabeth McMorrow.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A Catholic funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at 11:00 AM at St. Monica Parish, 212 Lawrence Street, Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
