Walter “Dan” Stiehl, 39, of Bradford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 14, 2020, at his home. He was born on September 8, 1980, to Walter Alan Stiehl and Elaine (Vaccaro) Barbera.

Dan was born in Boston, and was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School. He went on to attend MIT and received a bachelor’s degree in brain and cognitive science as well as both a bachelor and master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He was working towards his doctorate in mechanical engineering until his automobile accident. Eventually, Dan recovered and went back to school to be a machinist. He loved his job at Wilcox where he was working as both a machinist and mechanical engineer.

Family is the one word that truly encompasses Dan. He was a loving and devoted husband. He and his wife, Lindsay, were true soul mates and best friends. They met while out in Boston at the Museum of Fine Arts. He was also a wonderful father and led by example; teaching his sons about love, kindness, and respect by never speaking an unkind word about others.

A very hands-on dad from the beginning, Dan did it all, whether it was at the Kangaroo Care in the NICU to washing and changing the cloth diapers. He enjoyed long hikes, going to beaches and museums, and simply spending as much time possible with his family, most especially his two sons, whom he called “his little buddies.” Dan’s memory will live on in those who have had the privilege of knowing him.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of twelve years, Lindsay (Brown) Stiehl; cherished twin sons, Dominic and Vincent Stiehl; mother, Elaine Vaccaro; father, Walter Alan Stiehl; in-laws, Janice and Robert Brown; and sister-in-law, Cailtin Brown.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, from 5:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.
