Constantinos A. Housianitis
October 20, 1926 ~ March 15, 2018 (age 91) 91 Years Old
Constantinos A. Housianitis, 91, of Salisbury Beach, formerly of Lawrence, entered eternal life on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen surrounded by his family. He was born in Lamia, Greece and was the son of the late Athanasios and Anastasia (Antonopoulos) Housianitis.
Mr. Housianitis was raised and educated in Greece and served in the Greek army in his 20s. He married in Greece in 1956 and set sail for America in 1957. He worked at Crystal Luncheonette on Broadway in Lawrence and later retired from Anton's Cleaners where he worked as a manager in Wilmington, MA from 1957 to 1991. He was a member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Andover, the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Newburyport, and the Order of AHEPA, Lawrence Chapter #47. He served his church on the Parish Council in many capacities, was a chanter, and served in the choir.
He received the Ministry Award from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Boston in 2003 for his devotion to his faith. He loved spending time with his family at his Salisbury Beach home and was an avid Boston sports fan which he thoroughly enjoyed watching on tv. His infectious smile and upbeat positive attitude were evident to all who met him. His devotion to faith, family, and friends were unsurpassed.
Upon retirement, he enjoyed his daily walks along Salisbury Beach and conversations with friends and neighbors along the way.
Mr. Housianitis was predeceased by his beloved wife, Helen (Sirigos) Housianitis and his siblings, John Housianitis and Catherine Andrews.
He is survived by his children, Arthur and his wife Lisa of Haverhill, John, and Joanne of Salisbury; his granddaughter, Anya of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the compassionate and wonderful care he received at Northeast, Whittier, and Hannah Duston Rehabilitation Centers and at Holy Family Hospital's St. Camillus floor. Their tireless efforts were of great comfort to him and his family.
