Constance Mary “Connie” (Cavallaro) Pauta, 91, a lifelong resident of Lawrence, passed away early Monday morning, April 16, 2018 at the Prescott House Nursing Home in North Andover, where she had resided since last September after a battle with Alzheimer’s.
Born in Lawrence to Mario and Josephine (Bonaccorso) Cavallaro, she was educated at both Holy Rosary Grammar School and the Lawrence Public Schools and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1944. She was employed at Elm Farm Market and Ganem’s Market in Lawrence until her children were born and then became a full-time housewife, providing loving care to her family and home. After her children were grown, Connie became a poll worker for the city of Lawrence on Prospect Hill.
In her earlier years, Connie sang in the Holy Rosary Church choir and was a member of the Vocalaires singing group. She was also a member of the former Cardillo-Campagnone Bros. Post #1 in Lawrence along with its Ladies Auxiliary and bowling league. Connie also belonged to the Young at Heart Club, Italian Mothers’ Club, Ladies Lodge of the Sons of Italy #902, Friends of Lawrence Heritage State Park and the St. Rita’s Sodality at Holy Rosary Church, of which she was a lifelong parishioner. Connie also enjoyed playing Bingo at the Andover Senior Center and more recently at the North Andover and Lawrence Senior Centers.
Family members include her husband of nearly 64 years, Salvatore “Sam” Pauta of Lawrence; son, Richard Padova, professor at Northern Essex Community College, and his wife, Lori (Chateauneuf) of Andover; daughter, Lucille Dadducci and her husband, James of Methuen; grandchildren, Cameron Dadducci and his wife, Stefanie (Sarcione) and Nina Cyr and her husband, Steven, all of Salem, NH; great-grandchildren, Amelia and Colton Dadducci; sister-in-law, Rose Pienta of Methuen and brother-in-law, Joseph Pauta and his wife, Sandra of Methuen; and several nieces and nephews. Connie was the sister of the late Antoinette Meile and her husband, Orlando and the late Joseph Cavallaro and his wife, Rose.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, April 19, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 20th at 10 AM at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Entombment will follow at St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Cemetery Chapel Mausoleum in Lawrence.
