Tribute

Concettina J. “Connie” (Catalano) Cestrone, 94, of Salisbury, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at SalemHaven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Salem, NH, on July 28, 2022.
Connie was born on May 26, 1928 in Lawrence to the late Ignazio and Rosina Catalano. She graduated from Lawrence High class of 1946. Connie was the co-owner of the former Family Pharmacy in Lawrence where her primary responsibility was bookkeeping. Connie was married to the love of her life, Michael J. Cestrone, for 66 years until his death in 2016. She was also a very talented violinist and a member of a symphony orchestra in her early adult years. She was a skilled cook and passed on many beloved family recipes to her children and grandchildren.
During their years together, Connie and Michael enjoyed each other’s company on their many trips to Italy, Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and various European countries. They were the eternal hosts to family and friends, playing cards into the wee hours of the morning for many years in their Lawrence, Salisbury, and Venice, FL homes. Above all else, Connie gave her all to her family. She loved nothing more than watching her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren enjoying all she and Michael worked so hard for at their homes in Salisbury Beach and Venice, FL.
Connie will be sadly missed by her two daughters, Michele McComiskey of Methuen, and Barbara Fleno and her husband John of Atkinson, NH; her cherished grandchildren, Dena Fleno and her husband, Phil Sherwood, Kiera (Fleno) and her husband, Casey Gallagher, Meaghan (McComiskey) and her husband, Jameson Gasparri, and Mark McComiskey, III and his significant other, Britney Carignan. She also leaves behind her treasured great-grandchildren, Miles and Ava Sherwood, and McKenna and Callan Gasparri who all brought her so much joy and happiness. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Stephen Cestrone his wife Maria of Seabrook, NH; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Anthony and Sebastian Catalano and sister, Frances Zaccari; son-in-law, Attorney Mark A. McComiskey, Jr.; and life-long friend, Josephine Ventura.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to the many caregivers who, with great dedication and love, provided exceptional care for Connie, especially those on the third floor rehab unit at SalemHaven.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested in Connie’s honor that memorial contributions be made to SalemHaven Skilled Nursing Facility and Rehabilitation Center, 23 Geremonty Drive, Salem, NH 03079, or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
