Carolina “Lena” (Curcio) Polizzotti, 94, a longtime resident of Methuen, MA and formerly of Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 19, 2019 after a period of declining health. She was the wife of the late Cusmo “Charlie” Polizzotti.
The daughter of the late Francesco and Patricia Curcio, Lena was born and raised in Pachino, Siciliy. At the age of 27, she immigrated to the United States of America and first settled in the Bronx, NY. In the early 50s, Lena relocated to Lawrence, and shortly after, found the love of her life, Charlie. In 1955, the two were married, started their family, and relocated to Methuen. She worked at Grieco Brothers in Lawrence as a seamstress until she retired.
Lena enjoyed gardening, cooking, dancing, and spending precious time with family and friends. Lena was amazing; she had a beautiful soul, full of life and possessed an infectious smile and a laugh that will never be forgotten. Some people would say she was a “peach” because of the sweetness she possessed. People who came in contact with Lena were automatically touched by her amazing soul and love.
Lena was predeceased by her son, Sam Polizzotti, siblings, Luigi, Lorenzo, Giusseppi, Frank, and Mario Curcio.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Phyllis M. Matteo and her husband Anthony of Plaistow, NH; grandchildren, Michael A. Matteo and his wife Kristin, Nicholas C. Matteo, Sarina M. Matteo and her partner Kevin Aceveda; great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Myles, Aurora, Vivian; and many nieces and nephews.
Lena’s family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to all of the staff at Lawrence General Hospital and equally to all of her friends for their friendship, help, support and many long visits with Lena during these most difficult days.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visitation hours from 4:00-7:00 PM on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen.
