Carol S. D'Urso

January 10, 1940 ~ May 18, 2019 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Tribute

Carol S. (Sanborn) D’Urso, 79, left this world surrounded by her family on Saturday, May 18, 2019 very peacefully with a heart full of love. She was born in Salem, MA, on January 10, 1940 to the late Richard and Edith (Hanson) Sanborn.

A graduate of Essex Agricultural and Technical High School in Danvers, Carol was employed by Excel Home Health Agency, where she worked as a certified health aide. She had a love of the beach, spending many years vacationing in Florida during the winters and in Wells Beach, ME in the summers. She loved long weekend getaways and would take last minute trips to Atlantic City with her husband, Alexander.

Carol was an amazing woman, mom, and friend. Her favorite things included taking rides to the beach, playing solitaire on her computer, completing puzzles, and enjoying a nice glass of wine. It was an ongoing joke among family and friends that if you didn’t give her a “Carol pour” you would be sent back to fill’er up! She also loved scrolling through FaceBook to see all the accomplishments and “proud parent” moments of all her relatives. She loved her children and grandchildren and helped family whenever she could. Most importantly, her grandchildren were her world.

She is predeceased by her husband of forty-eight years, Alexander R. D’Urso; siblings, Betty, Bobby, Billy, Dicky, Barbara, and Edie; in-laws, Sam, Tony, Nancy; and her adored granddaughter, Ashley St. Onge.

Carol is survived by her children, Rebecca Russo and her husband, James of Pelham, NH, John D'Urso of Twin Mountain, NH, and Christina St. Onge and her husband, Richard of Methuen; three cherished grandchildren, Jimmy and Nick Russo, and Jacob St. Onge; and siblings, Thomas Sanborn ,Virginia Hull and Claire Jones. She also leaves in-laws, Maru Cuticchia, Connie and Eddie Gold, June D’Urso, Charlie and Bev D’Urso, Freddie and Joan D’Urso, Lilia D’Urso, Barbara Sanborn, and Dale Churchill. In addition, she leaves dear friends, Chris and Mike Madson, Richard and Mary St. Onge, and Don and Lucy Plourde. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Her children would like to acknowledge her caregiver Betsy and all of the other wonderful caregivers for the care and compassion they showed during her illness.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA 01844 from 3:00-7:00 PM, with a memorial service to follow at 7:00 PM.
