Carmela H. Keizl

Carmela H. (Vallario) Keizl, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021, at Cedar View in Methuen, MA, surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter of the late Innencenzo and Lucia (Gagliardi) Vallario, Carmela was born and raised in Lawrence, MA, where she was one of eleven children. Brought up to be a devoted Catholic, Carmela also attended Holy Rosary elementary school. She was a championship softball player and avid bowler. Early in her career, she worked at Western Electric as an assembler and then for Raytheon for many years.

One of Carmela’s greatest joys and accomplishments came in taking care of her family. She was a devoted, loving, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching all of the New England sports teams, playing 45s, gardening, and cooking for her family. Family gatherings were especially important to her where she was surrounded by all of her loved ones.

Carmela will be greatly missed by her son, Walter Keizl, III and his wife Carolyn of Methuen; her daughter, Carla McCarthy and her husband Daniel of Methuen; daughter-in-law, Judy Keizl of Methuen; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren to whom she lovingly called the sunshine of her life; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Carmela was predeceased by her loving son, James; brothers, Sylvestro, Andrew, Frank, Fabrizio (Happy), Anthony, Agnelo, and Thomas Vallario; and her sisters, Mary Everett, Margaret Beaudoin, and Joan Lessard.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Cedar View and Beacon Hospice who took exceptional care of Carmela over the past year.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation on Monday, May 10, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Good Counsel at St. Theresa Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
