Carmela R. Gallo

Carmela R. Gallo, age 96, of Andover, MA and former longtime Lawrence, MA resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. She was the wife of the late Anthony M. Gallo.

Born and raised in Lawrence, the daughter of the late Alfio and Rosaria (Samperi) Pappalardo, Carmela attended schools in Lawrence.

With an infectious smile, Carmela loved to be surrounded by her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she loved so much. Cooking for her family and friends, especially if in preparation for holidays, brought her so much joy. With an abundance of food always prepared, Carmela enjoyed sharing both her cooked meals and baking. Saturday rides with her husband and grandchildren, which always included a dinner and ice cream, were memories she treasured. She was always happy to help others, especially if she was able to teach them how to prepare a meal. She also took great pride in keeping a clean house always ready to entertain, and will be remembered for how diligent she was with keeping the family’s clothes ironed.

Carmela was predeceased by her siblings, Sam Pappalardo, Domenic Pappalardo, and Anna Anasldi, and her son-in-law, Ted Coletta, Jr.

She will be greatly missed and is survived by her children, Diane Coletta of Haverhill, Anthony M. Gallo, Jr. and his wife Tricia of Methuen; grandchildren, Kaitlin Gallo and her husband Chris Cagliuso, Kristi Osgood and her husband Matt and Kacie Gallo; great-grandchildren, Carmela, Nora, Hazel, Avery, Jack, and Luke. She was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Carmela’s memory may be made to High Pointe Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.

Honoring her wishes, Carmela’s family has arranged services in private with the assistance of Cataudella Funeral Home in Methuen.
