Berthier Lavoie

Berthier “Bert” Lavoie, 81, of Kingston, NH, passed away at his home on Thursday, June 20, 2019, with his family by his side. Born on January 8, 1938 to the late Louis and Aldea (Blanchette) Lavoie.

Raised and educated in Ville DeGlisse, Canada, Bert moved to Methuen in 1952 and resided in Salem NH for the greater part of his life. After settling in Methuen, he worked several jobs in construction and eventually went on to own and operate Lavoie Construction. Working mostly throughout the Southern New England area and upon retirement took up his passion for refurbishing old farm tractors. Bert enjoyed working in the yard, especially with his beloved dogs, Polo and Nash, carpentry, traveling, going out to dinner, and being surrounded by his family.

In addition to his parents, Bert was predeceased by his son, Norman Lavoie.

Bert is survived by his loving partner, Mona K. McCarthy of Kingston, NH; his two sons, Guy Lavoie and his girlfriend, Kerry Curtis of CT, and Frank Lavoie and his wife, Sheri of Kingston, NH; his cherished four siblings, Bertrand Lavoie and his wife, Louiselle, Reginald Lavoie and his wife, Georgette, Jeannot Lavoie and his wife, Gervaise, and Claudette Raynald, all of Canada; his adored nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; his devoted friend, Justine O’Neill. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

He will be sadly missed and remembered by all those who had the pleasure of knowing him as a kind and compassionate individual, a true gentleman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM at the conclusion of calling hours in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at a later date.
