Tribute

Bennie A. Martino, 93, of Methuen, MA, peacefully passed away on May 14, 2023, at Nevins Nursing Home and Rehab, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 5, 1930, he was son to the late Francesco and Michelina (Campagnone) Martino.

Bennie was born and raised in Lawrence and moved to Methuen in the 70s. He worked and retired from the City of Lawrence DPW. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy for four years. His favorite memory was spending time in Italy where his parents were born. Bennie was proud of his Italian heritage and his Christian faith. He was a member of Lawrence Assemblies of God Church for many years and then the Riverside Assemblies in Methuen where the new church was built. His faith in God was shared with everyone he met. Bennie spent many years in downtown Lawrence passing out Bibles and Christian literature. He loved supporting missionaries around the world and their work for the Lord. Bennie is now in his eternal home with the Lord.

Bennie's favorite beach was Salisbury, where he spent many summers camping with his children at the reservation. His family meant everything to him. When he could no longer drive, He loved taking drives to the beach and going to his favorite places with his children. He loved the visits with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his face lit up when he saw their smiling faces.

The family would like to give many thanks to Nevins Nursing Home and their wonderful nurses and staff for giving the best care to Bennie for seven years.

Along with his parents, Bennie is pre-deceased by his beloved children, Michael Martino and Paul Martino and his ex-wife and lifelong friend, Elizabeth (Brewster) Martino; his siblings, Albert Martino, Stella Martino, Anthony Martino, Margaret Titone, Celia Robichaud, Eleanor Stella, and Armando Martino.

Bennie will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving children, Cindy Saab, Frank Martino, and Linda and her husband Mark Moriarty, all from Salem, NH; his daughter-in-law, Sharon Martino, wife of the late Paul Martino of Methuen; his grandchildren, Brittany, Tommy, Erin, Sean, Todd, Michael, Frankie, Jennifer, Regina, and Jason; as well as his fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
