Benjamin W. LaSpina

Benjamin W. “Benny” LaSpina, 65, of Amesbury, formerly of Methuen, MA, passed away suddenly of natural causes on March 28, 2020. Born in Lawrence, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Stella (Scalia) LaSpina.

Benny was raised and educated in Methuen and was a graduate of Tenney High School. He was a sweet and gentle man who was known widely within in the Merrimack Valley community simply as “Uncle Benny.” He connected with many people through the years at McDonald’s where he worked for decades as a dedicated and loyal employee. Benny was currently employed at McDonald’s in Seabrook, NH and considered his coworkers his second family.

Benny was a lifelong Boston sports fan and particularly loved the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He was an avid reader and lover of United States and world history, and had an amazing knowledge of historical events. Benny had an interest in genealogy and an impressive ability to remember names, dates, and relationships. He loved the beach and could often be found soaking up the sun near the rocks at Salisbury and Hampton beaches.

Benny was a vital part of a close-knit Italian family and leaves behind his beloved sister, Kathleen Parolisi and her husband Stephen of Methuen; nieces and nephews, Dana McCarthy and her husband Kristopher of Haverhill, Wendy Mattheson and Paul Ayala of Methuen, Mark Parolisi and his wife Ashleigh of Haverhill; great-nieces and nephews, Jordan and Justin McCarthy, John and Jessica Mattheson, Arianna and Alexa Ayala, Mark II, Stella, Jackson and Anita Parolisi. He will be forever missed by his numerous cousins, extended family and countless friends.

Due to the current Covid-19 situation all services will be private. A public funeral mass will be announced at a later date. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Ronald McDonald House.
