Barbara A. (McNulty) Scalia, 87, passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at Salemhaven Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, with her daughter Marguerite by her side. She was the wife of the late Salvatore Scalia.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, daughter of the late Francis and Marguerite (Healy) McNulty, Barbara worked as a waitress at Cedar Crest Restaurant in Lawrence, where she was so well known and loved by many.
Playing mahjong, golfing, and spending time with her dear friends in Massachusetts and her special friends in Stuart, FL, brought her so much pleasure over the years. She was extremely proud of her Irish heritage and loved St. Patrick’s Day.
In addition to her husband, Salvatore, Barbara was predeceased by her sons, William and Timothy DeMonaco.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Marguerite Sciuto and her husband Dr. Anthony Sciuto of Methuen; special grandson, Louis, whom she loved so very much; sister, Patricia Khoury and her husband George; devoted godson, Michael Donovan who sat and visited with her every Sunday, godson Patrick Khoury, whom she referred to as her firstborn; dear friends, Ruth Baillargeon, Carmine, and Cil DeMonaco; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Marguerite would like to thank the Salemhaven staff for the TREMENDOUS care given to her mother during the past eighteen months. We could not have done it without all of them!
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory may be made to Salemhaven Activities Department, 23 Germonty Drive, Salem, NH 03079.
Honoring Barbara’s wishes, services will be held in private with the assistance of Cataudella Funeral Home.
