Dr Armand R. Girouard, DDS

Armand R. Girouard, DDS, 90, of Lawrence, passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born and raised in Lawrence, Armand was the son of the late Donat and Marie Louise (Bechant) Girouard. He attended St. Ann’s Grammar School, was graduated from Central Catholic High School, then moved on to the College of the Holy Cross, and finally Georgetown University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1955.

During his time at dental school, Armand proudly enlisted in the United States Navy, served on the island of Malta, and was discharged as a Lieutenant before opening his office in Lawrence in 1957.

Armand was a life-long member of the American Dental Association, the Merrimack Valley Dental Society and the founder of the Lawrence Dental Society. He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus in Lawrence, Holy Family Men’s Guild, and the American-Canadian Genealogical Society. In addition, he volunteered in the photography department of Immigrant City Archives.

Armand is survived by his wife, Mary (McLaughlin) Girouard; sons, David Girouard and his wife,
Jennifer of Haverhill, Arthur Girouard and his wife, Bangoen of Texas; daughters, Anne Marie Cerami and her husband, Joseph of Methuen, Claire Lewis and her husband, Richard of Lyman, NH, Alice Girouard of Lawrence, Emilie Donnelly and her husband, Bruce of Jacksonville, FL, Elaine DeVito and her husband, Eddie of Haverhill; his sister Irene Bunting of Haverhill; nine grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, September 22nd at 10:00 AM at St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 300 Haverhill St., Lawrence. Burial will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 80 Corbett St., Andover following the mass. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Armand’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
