Antonietta (Consoli) Balsamo, 92, of Salem NH, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was born on May 10, 1930, and was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Vincenza (Motta) Consoli and sister of her brother, Carmelo. Antonietta was born and raised in San Giovanni La Punta, Sicily and came to the United States in 1960. She settled with her family in Lawrence, MA and there she met the love of her life, Stephen Balsamo. Together they worked unselfishly to raise their two children in order to provide them with the opportunities they never had. Antonietta worked as a seamstress at William Barry & Co in the Lawrence Mills until her retirement.
Antonietta lived a full and happy life full of many interests. She loved tending to her vegetable garden for many years and took pride in sharing the harvest of her hard work with family and friends. In her younger days, she was an avid candlepin bowler and won many league trophies along the way. She loved to cook and bake and every one looked forward to family and holiday gatherings where "Nana" would arrive with her homemade dishes and sweets. She grew prize winning African Violets and the flower beds at home were always beautifully kept. She had an unending love for her entire family and loved helping people, which she did so without expecting anything in return. She welcomed everyone into her home with her beautiful smile and truly brightened the lives of everyone she met.
What was most important to Antonietta was spending time with her family and attending the many performances, dance recitals, and sporting events of her grandchildren. She loved her annual vacations with her family to York Beach, ME and was quite the fierce and competitive Bocce player on the beach!
A devoted Catholic, Antonietta was a parishioner of Holy Rosary Church. She was a member of Saint Rita’s Sodality and looked forward to celebrating her faith weekly by attending Mass. She was faithful in reciting the Rosary on a daily basis and it was Antonietta’s faith in God and the love for her family that helped her through the heartache of losing her husband 31 years ago.
Along with her parents, Antonietta is predeceased by her husband, Stephen, of over 40 years and her brother, Carmelo Consoli. She will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her and is survived by her children, Angela (Balsamo) Genna of Salem, NH and Joseph Balsamo and his wife JoeAnn Balsamo of Seabrook Beach, NH. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Balsamo, Stephanie Genna, Melissa Genna, and Michael Balsamo. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends who she considered her extended family.
