Anthony Vitale, Jr.
July 15, 1935 ~ July 22, 2021 (age 86) 86 Years Old
Anthony Vitale, Jr., 86, also known as “Jerry Valley,” of Methuen, MA, peacefully passed away on July 22, 2021, at Holy Family Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 15, 1935, he was the son of the late Anthony and Jenni (Pitochelli) Vitale.
Born and raised in Lawrence, MA Anthony graduated from Lawrence High. He attended Massachusetts Military Academy and graduated as second lieutenant, before serving as an officer in the National Guard. He went on to get his Master’s Degree in Psychology and Hypnotherapy. He met the love of his life, Patricia (Pryan), and they soon started their family together.
Anthony started Valley Hypnosis in Methuen and worked at Lucent Technologies in North Andover for 31 ½ years. He loved kids and coached Little League with his son John for ten years.
A well-known world renowned hypnotist, Anthony was known as “Jerry Valley, America’s Most Captivating Hypnotist.” Jerry Valley's stage career spanned over 50 years and gave him the opportunity to appear all over the world as one of the finest entertainers in show business. He was the featured hypnotist on the QE2, Princess, Countess, Sagafjord, and Oceanic cruise ships, appearing with Hollywood stars such as Norm Crosby, Steve Mien, Jane Meadows, Barbi Benton, Jim Bailey, Jack Jones, Vic Damone, The Platters, Robert Klein, Phyllis Diller and Robert Vaughan.
Jerry was also a guest star on many television shows such as "Good Day" and "People Are Talking." On January 17, 1999, Jerry Valley was featured on national television on ABC'S "20/20" with John Stossel. The show was filmed at famed Caroline's Comedy Club in New York.
In addition to television shows, Jerry appeared in several movies with a combination of minor appearances and several speaking roles: "The Out-Of-Towners," with Jack Lemmon and Sandy Dennis, "Ruby," "Jenny's Song," "The Carey Treatment," "House Sitter" and "The Matzeliger Project." He has also been cast in several television commercials and 12 movies.
Anthony taught a course at Northern Essex Community College about self-hypnosis for self-improvement. He used his calling and passion to help others, while being able to provide an exhilarating and comedic show. His career gave him the opportunity to travel, which he loved to do with his wife, Patricia. They often traveled to Vegas and Disney World.
A well-known and respected man, Anthony loved to meet new people. He was a proud member of the National Guild of Hypnotists and the Sons of Italy. He enjoyed playing poker, 45s, bocce, golf, football and horse racing. He loved to cook, his specialty being his meatballs.
Along with his parents, Anthony is pre-deceased by his sister, Geraldine Fillipon. He will be deeply missed and is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Patricia (Pryan) Vitale; sons, Thomas Vitale of Salem, NH, David Vitale of Phoenix, AZ, and John Vitale and his wife Denise of Salem, NH.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, July 29, 2021, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A service will follow at 6:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be private.
