Tribute

Anne Louise (Cretella) Glynn, 76, of Methuen, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 20, 2019. She was the wife of the late Michael L. Glynn, with whom she shared thirty-one wonderful years of marriage.

The daughter of the late Lewis and Catherine (Toscano) Cretella, Anne Louise was born and raised in Lawrence. She graduated from St. Mary High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from Merrimack College. Anne Louise worked at First Essex Savings Bank for a number of years, prior to becoming a social worker for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts - Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA). She worked for the DTA for thirty-six years, advancing to the position of Director for the Lawrence office, and continued to work until just shy of her 75th birthday. She genuinely enjoyed her role helping others and making a difference in the communities in which she served.

Anne Louise loved the company of family and friends, most of all the time spent with her three children, daughters-in-law, nine grandchildren and great-grandson. They truly brought the spirit of Christmas to her all year long, as she was most happy when opening her door to family and friends for so many years. She will also be remembered for her beautiful flower gardens, which she constantly nurtured and enjoyed so much.

A devout Catholic, Anne Louise attended St. Lucy Parish in Methuen where she was actively involved in the Church and a member of the Sodality, a faith-filled group dedicated to our Blessed Mother in service to the parish and community.

In addition to her husband Michael, Anne Louise was predeceased by her brother, Henry Cretella, as well as her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Richard and Eileen Beauchesne.
She is survived by her children, Timothy J. Glynn and his wife Lisa of Murrieta, CA, Caroline M. Glynn of Methuen, MA, Michael L. Glynn and his wife Catherine of Salem, NH; grandchildren, Maegan, Michaela, Naomi, Mayah, Sofia, Tyler, Michael, James, and Cole; great-grandson, Kylan.
She is also survived by her sister Mary Cretella, brothers Joseph Cretella and his wife Norma, and Thomas Cretella; sister-in-law Ruth Cretella; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Jane Glynn, Thomas and Rita Mae Mickey, Michael and Catherine Milley, Martin Glynn, Diane Glynn, Michael and Maureen Chadwick; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation from 4:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, December 23, 2019 at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA.
