Anna T. (Messina) Giuffrida, 97, of Lawrence passed away suddenly on Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen. Born in Lawrence, MA, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Nunzia (Scarpignato) Messina.
Raised and educated in Lawrence, Anna was a graduate of Lawrence High School. While working as a hairdresser, she met Philip Giuffrida and they were married in 1948. Her late husband owned a grocery store in Methuen until he changed careers and worked in the print shop at Raytheon. Anna left her hairdressing job and worked at William Barry in Lawrence as a clothing inspector. Later, she left that job to be a full time mother and take care of her four children.
Mrs. Giuffrida was predeceased by her son, Joseph Giuffrida.
Anna is survived by her two daughters, Grace Russell of Wayland, MA, and Nancy Giuffrida and her husband, Steven Woodbury of Salem, NH; her son, Philip Giuffrida of Nashua, NH; loving grandchildren, Aimee Russell of Wayland, MA and Nathan Russell of San Francisco, CA.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours Saturday, March 3, 2018 from 11:00 - 1:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. A service will follow at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, donations in Anna's memory may be made to Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 10 Ingalls Ct., Methuen, MA 01844.
