Anna F. Bogacz

Anna F. (Balcius) Bogacz, 98, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Penacook Place, Haverhill, MA. Anna was born in East Vandergrift, PA. She was the daughter of Konstantas Balcius and Franciska (Micewicz), and widow of Andrew Bogacz, Sr.
Anna and her family moved to their family farm in Lithuania when she was one year old. At the age of 18, she returned to the United States just as World War II began and worked as a weaver in the Pacific Mill in Lawrence, MA. She met Andrew prior to his World War II deployment to Europe with the Third Armored Division, and subsequently wed him once Andrew returned.
Anna was a house wife until her children went to school and then she worked with her husband in the family owned business, the G.I. Market, at the corner of Park and Walnut Streets in Lawrence, MA. After 30 years of operation, the store was sold, and Anna went to work at ITT in Lawrence and then Raytheon in Andover and Lowell until her retirement.
Anna loved crocheting, knitting, and embroidery. She passed many of her beautiful creations down to her children and grandchildren. Anna also loved gardening. Her favorite seasons were Spring and Summer when she could plant and nurture her flowers. Anna loved dancing and danced with the Haverhill Senior Center Line Dancers until she was 98. She stepped down from dancing when she became ill in November 2016. She suffered a stroke and other complications in April, 2017.
She is survived by her children: Andrew Bogacz, Jr. and his wife Victoria of Wakefield, NH, Edward Bogacz and his wife Maria of Haverhill, and niece Wieslawa Wrobel of Braintree, MA; her five cherished grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Anna was predeceased by her son, Ronald Bogacz and her siblings, Anthony Balcius, William Balcius, and Aniela Balcius.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, May 30th from 4 to 8 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen, MA. Her mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, May 31st at 11 am at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill, MA. Burial will follow her mass at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Haverhill, MA.
