Ann G. Balsamo

Ann Balsamo, 91, of Lawrence, MA, passed away on Friday, October 4, 2019, with her devoted family by her side, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA. She was born in Lawrence on January 25, 1928 to the late Carmello and Mary (Chiarenza) Petralia.

Ann lived life fully and enjoyed the company of her many friends, especially Wanda Osgood and Kathleen Fitzpatrick. She was an expert seamstress and gave sewing lessons at her home. She was also an avid knitter and made hundreds of winter hats and blankets that she donated to charities in the MA and NH areas. There are many people who have enjoyed the fruits of her loving hands. 

She was very active and enjoyed her pool water exercises and senior chair yoga sessions that provided her the ability to continue to be active in her nineties. Ann enjoyed meeting her friends for coffee and conversation as well as her weekly trips to the store to purchase yarns for her next batch of winter beanies and hats. She was also a lifetime member of WW where she was the oldest participant and an inspiration to others. 

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A. Balsamo.

Ann is survived by her four loving children: Joann Miller of Hampstead, NH, Richard Balsamo of Lawrence, Elaine Faletra of Warren, NH, and Robert Balsamo of Lake Forest, CA; her loving grandson, Michael Miller of Clayton, NC; her loving sister, Freda Belanger of Methuen. In addition, she will also be missed by her sons-in-law, Peter Faletra of Warren, NH and Bill Miller of Hampstead, NH.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, from 3:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
