Anita A. Gillespie

Anita Ann (Silva) Gillespie, 75, of Methuen passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston.  She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Jason and Doris (Rossingnol) Silva.

Anita was raised and educated in Methuen.  Along with raising her children, she had many jobs. She was an edge trimmer at Gerber Shoe, a driver for William’s School Bus Company and a cook at 101 Broadway. 
Anita was the best sister, wife, mother, aunt and Ga.  She loved animals, Elvis, 70’s music, cooking for all of us and taking care of her flowers.  She was an artist and painted beautiful pictures for her family.  Our hearts are broken, but we are all better because she loved us.
Anita was predeceased by her siblings, Philip Silva and Paula Halbich.
 She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Charles F. Gillespie; daughter, Gayle Rubera and her husband Richard of Bristol, NH; sons, Gary Gillespie and his wife Sharon of Methuen and Glenn Gillespie and his fiancé Elaina Panagakos of Salem, NH; grandchildren, Eric Rubera and his companion Amelia Hersee of Derry, NH, Lauren Hobbs and her husband Conor of Medford, MA, Ava and Jamie Gillespie of Methuen.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
 Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen.  Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at St. Lucy’s Church, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen.  Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.  For directions or to send condolences please visit www.cataudellafh.com.
