Anita B. (Bonaccorsi) Castro, 86, of Methuen, formerly of Lawrence, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 30, 2018 at Lawrence General Hospital. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Forzese) Bonaccorsi.
Anita was a lifelong resident of Lawrence. After graduating from Lawrence High School, she went to work for the telephone company. She then left work to raise her family, and later went back into the workforce. She retired as a branch chief from the Internal Revenue Service. Anita enjoyed cooking, traveling, knitting, crocheting, and spending summers at Salisbury Beach with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at Methuen Village for the love and care that they gave to Anita.
Anita was predeceased by her husband, Joseph A. Castro; son, Anthony J. Castro; brothers, Thomas, James and Edward Bonaccorsi; and her sister, Lydia Sasso.
She is survived by her son, Paul J. Castro and his wife, Rosemarie of Haverhill; sister-in-law, Sandra Bonaccorsi of Hampstead, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex Street in Lawrence. Entombment will be in St. Mary – Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, Lawrence.
