Angelo “Mike” Alaimo, 86, of Methuen, MA, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2021, at Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was married to the love of his life, Gloria, for 63 years. Born on January 19, 1935, he was the son of the late Joseph and Carmina (Miele) Alaimo.

He was born, lived, and was educated in Lawrence MA, prior to moving to Methuen, MA where he spent the rest of his life. Mike received an Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Merrimack College in North Andover, MA.

Prior to that in 1952, he enlisted into the United States Navy where he served as an Aviation Machinist stationed at the Naval Air Station Whiting Field in Milton, FL. He was Honorably discharged as an Aviation Machinist 3rd Class Petty Officer in 1955.

Mike was the owner/operator of The Flying “A” gas station and auto repair with his late brother-in-law, Vito F. Milone in Haverhill, MA.

Mike commenced his Law Enforcement career in 1967 by joining the Methuen Police Department. He continued his training and became certified as a department fingerprint expert through the Massachusetts State Police Academy. He was certified as the Department Firearms instructor. Mike rose through the ranks attaining the rank of Lieutenant, Commanding Officer of the Swing Shift.

After his retirement in 1997, Mike was appointed and served as the Executive Director of the Methuen Housing Authority. Mike founded Eagle Investigation Services, Inc. as well, now known as EIS, Inc. in Methuen, MA. This legacy lives on as a family owned business.

He was an avid sportsman, carpenter, and a mechanic.

The family would like to thank Retired Police Chief Joe Solomon and his wife Michelle for their unyielding love and support. Also, his wonderful caregivers from Pathways Health and the all the staff at Lawrence General Hospital and Hospice care team.

Mike is survived by: The love of his life, his wife, of 63 years; Gloria (Peters) Alaimo; his brother, William and his wife Wanda; his sisters, Stella (Alaimo) Parolisi and her husband Robert, Susan (Alaimo) Kelley and her husband Peter; his son, retired Deputy Police Chief, Joseph D. Alaimo, son, former Police Officer Vincent A. Alaimo; grandchildren, Lindsay M. Alaimo, and Police Officer Joseph R. Alaimo; and very special family member, Cynthia Morgan and her husband John Morgan; as well as several nephews and nieces.

Mike was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Alaimo and parents, Joseph, and Carmina (Miele) Alaimo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, September 9, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. There will be a procession that will pass by the Methuen Police Headquarters as well and the Methuen Fire Department following the service. Burial will be private.
