Allen Seymour Jackson

Allen S. Jackson, 94, of Hampstead, NH passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont.

Born in Pawtucket, RI, Allen was the son of the late Allen, Sr. and Ada (Conway) Jackson. He was raised and educated in Lawrence where he sold newspapers at local horse race tracks during the Great Depression. Later, Allen worked for the Oxford Paper Co. as a color matcher and mixer for many years.

His sister, Florence, introduced him to her nursing classmate, Mary Mikonis. She became the love of his life and after they married, Allen and Mary proudly raised five children together. They loved their yearly vacations to Old Orchard Beach, ME. Family get-togethers were always a special time for Allen, especially the holidays.

An avid runner in his youth, Allen ran the Boston Marathon, placing in the top 30 one year. He also ran several Salisbury Beach Marathons. He was a life-long sports fan and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Another favorite activity since his youth was going to the race track. A man with a warm heart and a wonderful sense of humor, Allen will always be remembered for being a loving, dedicated and hardworking family-man.

In addition to his parents, Allen was pre-deceased by his two sisters, Janeva Sestini and Florence Vannett.

Allen is lovingly survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary F. (Mikonis) Jackson; sons, James Jackson and his wife, Catherine of Hampstead, NH, Richard Jackson and his wife, Terry of Burlington, Robert A. Jackson and his wife, Cathy of Acton; daughters, Susan Farrell and her husband Bill of Windham, NH, Patricia Hajjar and her late husband, David of Wilton; grandchildren Rachel, Kyle, Lindsay, Dennis and his wife Nicole, Jake, and Kate; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to calling hours on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral service will be held Friday, September 21st at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
