Alfred F. Moscariello

Alfred F. Moscariello, age 89, a longtime Lawrence, MA resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2019, with his family at his side. He was the son of the late Salvatore and Maria (Silvestri) Moscariello.

Born and raised in North Andover, MA, Alfred graduated from North Andover High School, class of 1948. He soon after began working with his father on the family farm in North Andover until January of 1953, at which time he enlisted in the United States Army. During this time he received training as a medical technician and worked at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Upon his return home from active service, Alfred settled in Lawrence. He continued his work as a medical technician in hospital settings throughout his life, finally retiring from Holy Family Hospital in Methuen, MA, a place where he so enjoyed to work.

Remembered as being a hard worker, Alfred also made a mark on many with his beautiful paintings. Perhaps his favorite subjects were his pets and a varied number of other animals. He also enjoyed painting and cooking shows, taking time to stop at local flea markets, hiking in the woods, bicycling. However, it is sure that those who knew him best knew that he loved giving, giving of himself or giving things to those in need, this was something that brought him so much joy. Since 1972, he devoted many hours giving as a Big Brother to a man with whom he grew a thirty some year friendship.

Alfred is survived by his niece Maria Hillner and her husband Steven Theall of Dracut; great-nieces and great-nephews: Angela, Stefanie, Sandra, Amanda, Karen, Katie; great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews: Jayden, Addison, Kyleigh, and Teagan; brother-in-law Armando Martino; and little brother Paul White. He was predeceased by his sisters Angelina Hillner, and Carmella Martino; and niece Lisa Martino.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, October 14, 2019, at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street in Methuen. A funeral mass for Alfred will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 15, 2019, at St. Michael Church, 196 Main Street in North Andover. Interment will follow in Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
