Alfred J. Coppola, 78, of Derry, NH passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Beth Israel-Deaconess Hospital. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Joseph and Virginia (Zappala) Coppola.
Al was a graduate of Suffolk University in Boston and was in the insurance industry for over 40 years. He was the president of Coppola – Weston Insurance Company in Salem, NH and later owned Coppola Insurance in Derry, NH. Known as “Captain Al” he loved boating, hunting and fishing with his children and friends. He was a big Patriots fan and enjoyed sports.
Al served with the U.S. Air Force and also served with the reserves at Pease Air Force Base.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Constance A. (Faro) Coppola; son, Christopher Coppola of Derry, NH; daughter, Jennifer Shelsky and her husband Christopher of Nashua, NH; step-grandchildren, Dara and Jacob Shelsky; sister in law, Rosemary Janco and her husband David of Newburyport; niece, Lisa Brzek and her husband Ted of Duxbury; nephew, David Janco of Newburyport and many relatives, friends and his dog Peanut.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 7, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Lithuanian Cemetery, Bradford.
