Alfred T. "Bengy" Bencivenga

Alfred T. “Bengy” Bencivenga, 75, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Holy Family Hospital in Methuen. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Pappalardo) Bencivenga.

Born and raised in Lawrence, MA, the son of the late Alfredo and Lenore (Rapazzo) Bencivenga, Bengy attended Lawrence High School. Following his retirement after 28 years from Lucent Technology, many years as a parts manager, he worked at Howe Street Superette, where he dedicated 17 years.

Known for his big heart and caring personality, Bengy will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a devout Catholic who loved to help others whenever possible. In his free time, he enjoyed crossword puzzles, western movies, and playing 45s.

In addition to his wife Josephine, Bengy is survived and will be missed by his children, Lenore Garnhum and her husband Kevin of Haverhill, MA and Lisa Reitano of Methuen, MA; grandchildren, Joseph Garnhum and his wife Jasmine; great-grandchild, Zander; siblings, Ann Markos and her late husband Arthur of Newburyport, MA, Mary Smith and her husband David of Sandown, NH; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation hours on Tuesday, September 28, 2021, from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Bengy on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Church, 254 Merrimack Street, Methuen. Entombment will be in St. Mary – Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Lawrence.
