November 15, 1926 – January 16, 2018

METHUEN, MA - Zari Alice Bogosian was born in Lowell, MA and was a long time resident of Methuen. On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, our beloved mother passed away peacefully at Lawrence General Hospital, Lawrence.
Zari graduated from Lowell High School, Class of 1944 and received her Associate’s Degree from Lowell Commercial College, in 1946. She attended the Boston Conservatory of Music where she studied with Italian opera singer and coach, Irida Pilla. Zari performed operatic roles professionally with the Merrimack Lyric Opera Company and presented concerts throughout New England, including at Harvard, Jordan Hall, and Clark University, as well as, at Serlo Organ Hall in Methuen. The highlight of her career was performing a supporting role in Gounod’s “Faust” with the Metropolitan Opera Company in Boston. She also pursued advanced studies in Humanist Astrology with noted American astrologer, Isabel Hickey.
Throughout her life, Zari loved singing in the Holy Cross Armenian Church choir in Lawrence and the Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Church choir in Chelmsford. She was a long-time member of the Sts. Vartanantz Woman’s Guild, where she was honored as 2012 Woman of the Year and was a member of the Whistler House Museum of Art.
She was the widow of Michael Bogosian after 70 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Bogosian of Santa Fe, NM and Methuen, MA; her son, Vasken Bogosian and his wife, Sara, of Lowell; her grandchildren, Nathan and Vanessa Bogosian, both of NYC; her sister, Rose Kludjian of Wilmington; and brother, Gary and his wife, Beverly, Koltookian of Chelmsford; along with extended family, cousins, friends, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Hagop and Sara Koltookian; and grandmother, Sheristan Bezdigian, all who survived the 1915 Armenian Genocide by the Ottoman Turks.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 19, 2018 from 4 to 7 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen.
Funeral services will be offered on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 10 AM at Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 180 Olde Westford Road, Chelmsford, MA. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
