Sylvia Gallagher

Sylvia (DeStefano) Gallagher, 79, of Salem, NH passed away Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen. She was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late James and Margaret (Buro) DeStefano.

Sylvia was raised and educated in Lawrence and was a graduate of Lawrence High School and MacIntosh Business School. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for thirty-five years as a collection supervisor and retired in 1993. She belonged to the Travel Club, the Women’s Club in Florida, the Red Hatters, and Downing Way Association.

Sylvia was predeceased by her former husband and longtime friend, Joseph Gallagher.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph and Scott Gallagher of Derry, NH; sister, Joan Goudreault of Salem, NH; and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence.
