Stephen H. Bower of Seabrook Beach, NH and Methuen passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 13, 2017 surrounded by his family after a courageous two year battle with cancer. He was born in Methuen on December 16, 1959 and was the son of Dr. Arthur J. Bower and the late Mary A. (Williams) Bower of Haverhill.
Stephen was raised in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill High School, class of 1977. He received his Bachelors of Science from Merrimack College.
Stephen enjoyed his rewarding career in construction sales at Tradesmen International, touching many local construction projects and servicing many construction companies. He was a member of the Associated Builders and Contractors.
Stephen’s biggest joys were his three children and two grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them at many baseball and football games and multiple dance recitals and competitions. He would beam with pride watching them from sports and dance to school accomplishments. Stephen’s favorite days started with a round of golf and then spending the rest of the day on the beach with his family and friends, ending the day grilling for the crowds. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan and all around football fan. Stephen loved horse racing with a yearly visit to Saratoga NY. He enjoyed trips to Disney, FL and Foxwoods. Uncle Steve, as he was known to so many, loved giving life lessons at the Sunday dinner table to anyone who would listen, and would become very excited when anyone listened to him.
He is survived by his wife of twenty years, Jennifer Hamilton-Bower; children, Daniel Q. Tomasz and his wife Janey of Newbury, Matthew J. and Alexandrea G. Bower; his two grandchildren, Anthony and Collins Tomasz of Newbury; his siblings, Arthur Bower and his wife Linda of Methuen, Margaret (Meg) Corde and her husband George or North Salem, NY, Dr. Thomas Bower and his wife Martha of Newburyport, Elizabeth Bower of Methuen, Mark Bower and his wife Karen of Haverhill, and Brian Bower and his wife Jessica of Pittsburg, PA. Stephen is also survived by his mother-in-law, Grace Hamilton of Seabrook Beach, NH and West Palm, FL and his brother-in-law, Joseph “Jay “ Hamilton and his wife Ronda of Kingston, NH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him deeply.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, December 18, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to one of the following: Saint Monica School, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen MA 01844; Central Catholic High School, 300 Hampshire St., Lawrence MA 01841; or Dr. Anuj Patel Research c/o Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West 6th Floor, Brookline MA 02445.
