Millie M. Barbagallo

Millie M. (Fiorino) Barbagallo age 90, of Boynton Beach, FL and formerly of Methuen, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Bethesda Hospice Center with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 17, 1926 to Antonio and Maria (Garfi) Fiorino in Lawrence, MA. Mrs. Barbagallo attended school in Lawrence and was an active member of Holy Rosary Church and St. Rita's Sodality. Millie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, whom she shared thirty-three years of a loving and happy marriage.

Millie was a supervisor at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for thirty years until her retirement. Following her retirement, she worked at the IRS Credit Union for six years until she made her home in Hobe Sound, FL and later moved to the West Palm Beach area. A woman of many loves and interests, she was passionate about traveling and her sense of adventure led her to tour many parts of the world. Being most proud of her Sicilian Italian heritage, Millie visited Italy multiple times as well as several other countries in Europe, and she organized many trips for her family and friends. This great love of travel also led her to explore many parts of the United States and at 75 years old she even went white-water rafting in Alaska.

Her love and enjoyment of the Arts brought her to New York City on several occasions to attend the Opera, the Ballet, and the theater. Millie’s desire for a career on the stage was fulfilled with the Ridgeway Theater Group in Hobe Sound, FL. Each year she impersonated many of her Hollywood favorite stars in singing and dancing routines for a full house crowd. Family was above all her greatest and most treasured blessing. Making her famous chicken soup and traditional Italian dinners for her children, grandchildren, and friends was her specialty. As Millie would often say, "it's a good day for chicken soup."

Millie was a woman who touched the hearts of anyone who was lucky enough to cross her path and her presence will truly be missed by all.

She is survived by her children, Sam Barbagallo and his wife Laura of Orlando, FL, daughters, Anita O'Connor and her husband Don of Boynton Beach, FL, and Carol Savoy and her husband Rick of Chester, NH; six grandchildren, Sam, Melissa and husband Peter, Stacy, Bianca and husband Matthew, Melanie, Ricky and wife Julie. She also leaves fourteen great-grandchildren, sisters- in -law, Amy Barbagallo, Pepper Fiorino; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Charlie, Jack, Pat; her sister, Nellie; and her brother-in-law Mel Barbagallo, and her grandson, Donnie O'Connor.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Friday, June 23, 2017 from 4 – 8 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. Her mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, June 24th at 10:00AM at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Entombment will follow at St. Mary’s Mausoleum 6 Woodland St., Methuen.
