Michael Annaian

Michael Annaian, 86, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Mary Immaculate Nursing Home in Lawrence surrounded by his loving wife and family. Beloved son of the late Eghia and Mary (DerMelkonian) Annaian, he was born in Lawrence on October 26, 1931.

A strong and gentle man, Michael enjoyed taking care of his lawn in the summer, picking all the twigs as well cleaning all the debris in the spring, raking leaves in the fall, and clearing snow in the winter. He had great determination to complete each job perfectly. Most of all, Michael loved to try to perfect the art of horse racing at Rockingham Park and tried to beat the slots at Foxwoods. He was always ready for the challenge.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Air Force, Michael worked at Western Electric as a technical supervisor. He later graduated from LaBarron Hairdressing School, where he met Maria, fell in love, and married on January 26, 1986. In his later years, he worked at Smith and Nephew from which he retired to enjoy his family and help his wife in her ceramic shop.

He is predeceased by his brother-in-law, Khatcher Afarian; and nephew, Peter Afarian.

Michael will be sadly missed by his wife of thirty-two years, Maria ( Napolitano) Annaian of North Andover; stepdaughters, Agata Fosman of NH, and Ann Maria DiMarca of North Andover; grandchildren, Natalia, Anthony, Nicholas, and Dominic; sisters, Elizabeth Kochakian and her husband, Charles of Andover, Mary Ann Afarian of Andover; brother John Annaian and his wife, Sirvart of Norwood; brother, Edward Annaian and his wife, Janet of Andover; brother- in-law, Vito and his wife Donna of North Andover; brother-in-law, Enrico Napolitano of ME; sister-in-law, Rita Nudd and her husband, Jack of NH. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Monday, February 12, 2018 from 3:00-7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 158 Main St., North Andover. Burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery in Andover.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to Mary Immaculate Nursing Home, 172 Lawrence St., Lawrence, MA 01841 or to St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church, 158 Main St., North Andover, MA 01845.
