Mary V. (Solomon) Faris, 97, of Methuen passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Cedar View Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Methuen surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Lawrence in 1919 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Emily (Kater) Solomon, who emigrated from Lebanon.
Mary grew up and raised her family in Lawrence. In her earlier life, she worked at the Arlington Mills. She loved to cook and feed her family and friends. She also enjoyed baking birthday cakes for family and friends, going out to eat and her 3PM daily phone call from her son, Donald. Mary’s true passions, though, were her family, extended family, and the many good friends that she accumulated throughout her lifetime. She was especially proud of her Lebanese heritage.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Fred Faris and, recently, by her brother, Edmond Solomon.
Mary is survived by her sons, Donald Faris and his wife Jean of Florida and Joseph Faris and his wife Mary of North Andover; sister-in-law and best friend, Theresa Solomon of Methuen; grandchildren, Frank Arcidiacono, Gina Lakus, Christina Faris and Joe Faris; great-grandchildren, Dean, Corey and Haylee. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Mary was also the very special “Auntie” to Janice Solomon, Mary Ellen Kalil, Joseph Solomon, Emily Rose Getchell and Phyllis Getchell and their spouses and families.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, September 14, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, September 15, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Methuen. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Methuen.
