Maria (Gallo) Campailla, 92, of Lawrence passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Prescott House in North Andover. She was born in Palazzolo, Italy and was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Felicia (Branca) Gallo.
Mrs. Campailla was raised and educated in Italy and came to Lawrence in 1972. She worked for many years at Mutural Clothing Manufacturing and retired in 1987. She was a parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church and a member of the Italian Mothers Club and St. Rita’s Sodality. She also loved cooking, bingo, watching Italian TV, listening to Italian music and going to church.
Mrs. Campailla was predeceased by her first husband, Salvatore Traina and her second husband, Savatore Campailla; her daughter, Silvana Campailla-Fosso; her sons-in-law, Giovanni Fosso and Michelangelo Iuvara and her siblings, Sebastiano Gallo, Vincenza Cuccurullo and Francesca Gallo.
She is survived by her daughter, Vincenza Iuvara of Methuen; her son, Joseph Traina and his wife Susan of Methuen; her grandchildren, Eleonora Iuvara of Salem, NH, Francesca Daigle of Salem, NH, Giuliano Pizzo and his wife Amy of Salem, NH and Marissa Pizzo of Methuen; her great-grandchildren, Sophia and Nicholas Daigle and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St. Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St. Lawrence.
