Joseph E. Houle, 72, of Lawrence passed away at his home after a long battle with ALS on Saturday, October 28, 2017. He was born in Lawrence and was the son of the late Ernest Houle and Rosalie (Daniele) Michel.
Joe was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, class of 1963 and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Merrimack College. He worked as an accountant for Microwave Engineering in North Andover. He volunteered many hours of his time to help others. He was on the board of the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program, was a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, drove for the North Andover Senior Citizens, Angel Flights, and the Northern Essex Elderly. He was also a member of the Merrimack Valley Feline Rescue Society.
Joe was known for his enormous hugs and exuberant demeanor. He always had a kind word for everyone and was the first to offer a lending hand to anyone who needed it. He embodied joy and unconditional love to all who knew him. He lived life to the fullest and had lifetime of wonderful experiences with people he loved.
He was predeceased by his parents and sisters, Juliette Jameson and Rosemarie Monfet.
He is survived by his daughters, Stefanie Houle and her companion, Brent Dow of Windham, NH and Laurie Houle of MD; his loving companion, Suzanne Iannazzi of Lawrence: and his grandchildren, William Campbell, Rhianna, Payton and Joseph LaRocque, and Natalie Barnaby. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the Atkinson Congregational Church, 101 Main St., Atkinson, NH. Burial will be held at a later date in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Lawrence. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Joe’s name to the ALS Association.
