Ide M. (Mancini) Schiavone, 99, of Newburyport passed away Monday, December 11, 2017 at the Country Center for Health and Rehabilitation. Born in Lawrence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina Mancini.
Raised and educated in the Lawrence School system, Ide was a graduate of Lawrence High School and the Narys School of Beauty Culture. She worked for them until she had her first child and then operated her own salon called the Victory Beauty Salon. Shortly after World War II, she sold her business because she was expecting her fourth child.
Ide attended many hair and fashion schools throughout her life. She did a lot of show work and received many trophies and awards within the beauty realm. She was a proud member of the Lawrence Senior Citizens' Center.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Schiavone; son, Larry James Schiavone, her longtime companion of thirty-three years, Joseph Rigoli, Sr. and her four siblings.
Ide is survived by her children, James Schiavone and his wife Clorinda of Newburyport, Sheila Bernier and her husband Robert of Dracut, Kenneth Schiavone and his wife Susan of North Conway, NH; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren, Joe Rigoli, Jr., Maryanne Bartlett; and was a loving aunt to several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Wednesday, December 13, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14th at 10:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ide’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital via www.stjude.org.
