On December 10th at 1:45 AM, Frank George Payson drew his last breath in his battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on May 5, 1954 in Lawrence, and was the son of the late Paul E. and Cecile (Turmel) E. Payson.
He spent his childhood in the house that his father built on Piedmont Street in Methuen and was a self-employed plumber. In his free time, he loved listening to music, playing drums, and spending time with friends and family. His time with them was often drenched in love, laughter, and the occasional debate over politics or football.
Frank left this world the same way he lived his life, on his own terms, engulfed by family love, with an illustration of grace, and the coolest person in the room. In life, he taught us so many lessons, but in death, he educated us in so many more. He showed us the true meaning of courage, strength, dignity, and legacy!
In his passing, he also showed us that in the darkest of hours there is also light. He taught us that light is the love you put out into the world, and that love will come back to you tenfold in the end. He passed at home peacefully in his sleep, waiting until he was alone with the love of his life, Marlene Payson.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene (Potvin) Payson; daughter, Ami Payson of North Andover; son, Frank J. Payson and his wife Heather of Derry, NH; brothers, Charlie Payson and his wife Patty of Pelham, NH, Gary Payson and his wife Barbara of Methuen, and John Payson of Methuen. He also leaves his granddaughter, Chiara Payson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel, followed by a mercy meal.
