Filippo Cali, 68, of Haverhill passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Merrimack Valley Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. Filippo was born and raised in Biancavilla Sicily and was the son of the late Carmelo and Agata (Sapia) Cali, and the son-in-law of the late Giuseppe and Carmela (Maglia) Ardizzone.
Filippo came to America in 1979 from Sicily where he worked as a machinist and served his country proudly in the Navy. In America, Filippo continued his craft as a machinist upon his retirement. To Filippo, family was most important & enjoyable, especially on holidays and special events. His greatest accomplishment was the ability to provide for his family through hard work and dedication. Always one to lend a hand, Filippo could fix anything; he helped family, friends and neighbors whenever asked.
Filippo is survived by his loving wife of 45 years Maria (Ardizzone) Cali of Haverhill, his son Carmelo A. Cali and his wife Annalisa of Methuen, and his grandson Nicholas. Filippo also leaves his sister Maria D’amato of Catania Sicily and was brother to the late Salvatore Cali and his sister Alfina Mignemi. He also leaves his caring in-laws Pierina Ardizzone of Haverhill whom he loved dearly and treated her as a daughter, Josephine and John Mehlman of Methuen, Enza and Antonino Morda’ of Sicily, Vincent and Janet Ardizzone of Andover, and Nicholas Ardizzone of Danville NH, along his many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 10:00am at Corpus Christi Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 35 Essex St., Lawrence. Entombment will follow the services at St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Lawrence.
