Elsa M. (Gale) Tokowicz, 74, of Methuen passed away Tuesday, October 24, 2017.
Elsa was born in Lawrence and was the daughter of the late Leonard and Dorothy (Noden) Gale. She was a graduate of Tenney High School, class of 1960. She had a lifelong love of horses, including her pride and joy, Prince, whom she had for over thirty years. Her parents bought Prince for her when she was thirteen and she used to deliver newspapers to the neighborhood by horseback. She worked many jobs in her lifetime, including working for the I.R.S., a licensed phlebotomist, and for Western Electric. She retired from Methuen Oral Surgery where she worked as a surgical assistant for over twenty years.
Elsa had a love for traveling, gardening, cooking and entertaining. She traveled to over twenty states and several foreign countries. Elsa meticulously manicured her yard with flowers of every kind and even had her own English garden. She had a passion for cooking and loved to entertain. Every year she would host a massive Christmas tree decorating party with all her friends and family. She would serve every type of food and drink imaginable, while everyone she cared for would decorate the family tree.
While Elsa had many loves, her primary passion was her family. She was married for fifty years to her husband Martin. She raised three daughters and was Nana to six grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She helped raise all of her grandchildren, including finally retiring so she could spend more time with them.
Elsa was predeceased by her daughter, Tanya Tokowicz; brother, Leonard Gale; and her granddaughter, Amber Urbanowicz.
She is survived by her husband, Martin V. Tokowicz; daughters, Kim Brightman and her husband Adam of Raymond, NH, Stacia Perrotta and her husband Anthony of Methuen; grandchildren, Ava, Sophia, Savannah, and Anthony Perrotta and Kyle Urbanowicz, and her great-grandchild, Kaleigh Urbanowicz.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, October 30, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen.
