Catherine G. Duerr

Catherine (Gorman) Duerr, 88, of Methuen passed away at her home Sunday, June 25, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born in Charlestown and was the daughter of the late John and Catherine (McLaughlin) Gorman.

Cath was raised and educated in Charlestown and was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph’s Academy. She devoted her life to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In order to play her beloved bingo, she became a member of the Polish American Club in Vero Beach, FL.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, Robert G. Duerr, Sr.; children, Robert Jr. and his wife Betsy of Hawaii, Richard of Maine, John and his wife Donna of Methuen, Kathleen Schelling and her husband Ken of Lanesborough, MA; daughter-in-law, Kathy Duerr of Florida, Marlene and her companion Ellen Minzner of Haverhill, and Rosemary aka Zorah of California and a brother, John Gorman and his wife Peggy of Tewksbury. She also leaves 15 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. Catherine is predeceased by her son, Daniel Joseph; granddaughters, Kara and Rebekah Duerr; siblings, Margaret Fletcher, Helen O’Keefe, Thomas Gorman, Sally Zannino, and James Gorman.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 29, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. Her funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Monica Church, 212 Lawrence St., Methuen. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen.
