Antonio Cataldi

August 24, 1924 ~ January 2, 2018 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Antonio “Tony” Cataldi beloved husband of Antonette (DeCola) Cataldi, a resident of North Andover for more than 50 years died Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Tufts Medical Center in Boston at the age of 93.

Born August 24, 1924, in Roca D’Evandro, Italy, Antonio was the son of the late Casemiro and Maria (DiFruscia) Cataldi.

Antonio was educated in Italy and served in the Italian Army during WWII. During the invasion of Italy by Germany, he was captured and imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp for two and a half years where he endured severe suffering and hardship until 1945 when he was liberated by English troops. In 1947, he came to America and worked in the textile mills in Lawrence and construction jobs in Boston. He retired after thirty-two years working in the former St. Laurence O’Toole and St. Mary’s Churches in Lawrence.

Tony enjoyed his home and his garden. His special pride was growing his own tomatoes. He was an accomplished bowler with a very enviable high average and was a member of several bowling leagues as well as several social clubs. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips with his beloved wife to Foxwoods, Atlantic City, Florida, and Italy.

Tony was predeceased by his son, Anthony Cataldi; and sister, Jessie DiFruscia.

Tony leaves his wife of fifteen years, Antonette (DeCola) Cataldi; daughters, Dianne Bacon and her husband, Kenneth Bacon, and Maria Worsley; three grandsons; sister-in-law, Angel Cataldi; nephews, Jerry and Dominic DiFruscia; and extended family members.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday, January 7, 2018 from 2:00-6:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley St., Methuen. His funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 8, 2018 at St. Michael Church, 196 Main St., North Andover. Burial will be private.
