Michael J. Zinno
May 8, 1929 ~ April 11, 2024 (age 94) 94 Years Old
Michael John Zinno, 94, of Salisbury, MA, was welcomed home to heaven when he peacefully passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Cedar View Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 8, 1929, he was the son of the late Giovanni “John” and Filomena (Campisi) Zinno.
The most kind, caring, and compassionate man, everyone who met Michael instantly loved him and referred to him as “Uncle Mike.” He was devoted to his family and spent many years taking care of his mother and sisters. Michael was a proud member of the United States Army and served as a sergeant during the Korean War. He was a social worker his entire life, working for the Massachusetts DTA. Michael resided in Methuen for a majority of his life, but moved full time to his beloved Salisbury Beach after his retirement. In his free time, he loved to travel, spend time with his family, and go for walks on the beach. Michael was a talented stage actor in his youth and had a great passion for Musical Theatre and Broadway. He was an amazing man and an animal lover.
Along with his parents, Michael is pre-deceased by his beloved sisters, Carmela “Millie” Rapa, Connie Gilberto, and Jenny Malisos-Murray; as well as by his nephew, Phillip Malisos.
He will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving nieces and nephews, John Rapa and his wife Cynthia of Methuen, MA, Jessilyn Rapa of Methuen, MA, Katrina Luciano and her wife Michelle of Methuen, MA; great-niece and great-nephew, Tyranda and Nathaniel Luciano. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Michael Malisos of Hawaii, Lisa Johnson of North Carolina, Paula Hinesley of Indiana and Larry Gilberto of California; as well as his close family- friends, Dawn Shipley Esq., Mitchell Bergen, and Debra Tinney; and beloved family dogs, Marlene and Henry.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours on Thursday, April 18, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen. A funeral mass will take place on Friday, April 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM at St. Lucy Parish, 254 Merrimack St., Methuen. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Methuen. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the MSPCA.
